Hi, I'm Paola — the founder and face behind Mettle Fitness. I'm 48, and a few years ago my body started changing in ways I didn't understand.
I went back to what I knew: lifting weights, more cardio, eating less. None of it worked. The weight kept coming. I felt frustrated, confused, and completely let down by every trainer I tried — none of them ever mentioned perimenopause.
As the years passed, my energy dropped, my motivation disappeared, and I felt increasingly desperate. At one point I gave up entirely. If nothing was going to work, why bother?
It wasn't until I finally understood what perimenopause was actually doing to my body that everything changed. That knowledge became the turning point — and the reason Mettle Fitness exists.
Last year, after nearly 15 years of putting it off, I completed my Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer certifications — alongside a specialist Menopause Coaching certification. I didn't want to be just another personal trainer. I wanted to be the coach I needed but couldn't find.
My goal is simple: to help women at every stage of menopause feel strong, understood, and never alone. Through smart, hormone-aware training. Through workshops that explain what's actually happening in your body. And through a community where women can connect, talk openly, and support each other — over a coffee if needed.
